Does Auto Insurance Cover Snow & Ice Damage?

It’s that chilly, snowy time of the year, and our vehicles are facing it head-on. So, what happens if your vehicle faces damages from the snow or ice?

If hail damages your vehicle, the damage is covered through Comprehensive Coverage, also known as “Comp.” Comprehensive Coverage provides payment for loss of damage to a covered auto from covered losses except collision with another vehicle, object or the roadbed, or upset, subject to exclusions. For example, if a vehicle were to slide off the road on ice and hit a road sign, this would not be covered under Comprehensive Coverage since it collided with an object. This would be covered under Collision Coverage.

Similarly to hail damage, snow damage would also be covered through Comprehensive Coverage.

In the event of an auto becoming disabled and in the need of a tow, Farm Bureau Insurance offers Emergency Road Service coverage. Included in Farm Bureau Insurance’s Roadside Assistance is towing and winching service, a flat tire change, a battery jump-start, fuel delivery, locksmith service, and on-scene labor.
